Boliviana de Aviación (BoA), Bolivia's state-owned flag carrier, was founded in October 2007 as the successor to the defunct Lloyd Aéreo Boliviano. Headquartered in Cochabamba, it serves as the country's largest airline, operating a network of domestic routes centered on its primary hub at Jorge Wilstermann International Airport (CBB) and international services primarily from Viru Viru International Airport (VVI) in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, with focus cities including La Paz (LPB). BoA flies to around 20 destinations across South America, plus long-haul routes to Miami and Madrid using its Airbus A330-200 fleet. As a full-service carrier wholly owned by the Bolivian government, it emphasizes connectivity within the Andean region while modernizing its predominantly Boeing 737 narrowbody fleet. The airline stands out for its role in sustaining affordable air travel in a challenging high-altitude market and its recent fleet upgrades replacing older widebodies.
