One Airlines (IATA: IP) was a short-lived Chilean airline that operated from 2013 to 2020, specializing in domestic passenger services and mining charters in northern Chile. Founded in July 2013 by Claudio Fischer as One Airlines S.p.A., it commenced revenue flights in October 2013 from its hub at Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport (SCL) in Santiago.
The carrier initially wet-leased two Boeing 737-400s from Xtra Airways to serve routes to mining hubs like Antofagasta (ANF) and Calama (CJC), as well as Concepción (CCP). By August 2019, its fleet transitioned to two Boeing 737-300s (registrations CC-AIT and CC-DAN), each configured for 140 passengers in a single-class layout. These older narrowbodies suited the airline's focus on short-haul regional flights and charter operations for the mining industry, a key economic driver in Chile.
Headquartered in Santiago, One Airlines positioned itself as a nimble alternative amid competition from giants like LATAM and low-cost carriers SKY and JetSMART. However, it struggled with financial pressures, intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic. On June 24, 2020, the airline abruptly ceased operations, citing unsustainable losses, lack of government aid, and market saturation. At its peak, it flew a modest network but left a niche legacy in supporting Chile's mining sector.
Today, One Airlines is remembered as a brief entrant in Chile's competitive aviation landscape, highlighting the challenges for small regional players.
