Shuttle America (IATA: S5) was a U.S. regional airline founded in 1995 and commencing operations in November 1998. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, it primarily operated as a codeshare partner for United Airlines (United Express) and Delta Air Lines (Delta Connection), serving major hubs including Chicago O'Hare (ORD), Newark (EWR), and New York-LaGuardia (LGA).
Initially launched as a low-fare commuter with Dash 8 turboprops, the airline transitioned to Embraer regional jets after acquisition by Republic Airways Holdings in 2005. At its peak, it flew Embraer E170 and E175 aircraft configured for two-class service, supporting routes across the eastern and central United States, including Delta Shuttle operations.
Shuttle America ceased independent operations on January 30, 2017, with its certificate, aircraft, and crew merged into Republic Airways to streamline costs under a single operating entity. It never joined a major global alliance but participated in SkyTeam and Star Alliance benefits through its partners. Today, its legacy continues through Republic's operations.
