T'Way Air

T'way Air, a leading South Korean low-cost carrier (LCC), pioneered budget aviation in the country when founded on April 1, 2005, as Hansung Airlines. Initially operating domestic routes with ATR 72 turboprops, it faced financial challenges and ceased operations in 2009 before relaunching as T'way Air on August 13, 2010, with Boeing 737-800s. Headquartered in Seoul's Seongdong-gu district, the airline quickly expanded, securing its international Air Operator's Certificate in 2011 and posting its first profit in 2013.

Today, T'way Air operates from primary hubs at Gimpo International Airport (GMP) and Incheon International Airport (ICN), serving 46 destinations across Asia, Europe, Oceania, and North America. Its network includes popular routes to Bangkok, Tokyo, Sydney, Frankfurt, and Vancouver, blending short-haul domestic flights with ambitious long-haul services introduced via Airbus A330s in 2022 and leased Boeing 777-300ERs. Cargo operations, launched in 2013, further diversify its offerings.

Certified as a 3-Star Low-Cost Airline by Skytrax, T'way emphasizes efficiency and affordability, with adequate legroom on short sectors but basic amenities on longer flights. The fleet of 47 aircraft averages 13.5 years old, featuring modern narrowbodies for regional hops and widebodies for transcontinental journeys. Distinctive for its rapid growth—becoming Korea's third-largest LCC by international capacity in 2019—T'way stands out with interline partnerships (e.g., Virgin Australia, ITA Airways) and pre-order meal options.

In a bold evolution, T'way was acquired by Daemyung Sono Group and plans a rebrand to Trinity Airways in late 2026, introducing a vibrant new livery and potentially hybridizing its model amid South Korea's competitive aviation landscape. With 21 aircraft on order, including A330neos and 737 MAXes, T'way Air continues to democratize air travel for cost-conscious passengers seeking value-driven adventures.
